That's the way most Eurasian (and a few other) towns grew into cities. The center of town was built in a defensable position, and new construction was added in more-or-less concentric rings around it, with the center being where the oldest and most influential famiies lived. If there was a castle, it would be at the highest and/or most central point, and the rabble lived on the outskirts. It's not uncommon to see some of the oldest cities with rings of defensive walls marking the growth of the city like tree rings. ^^

The detail wasn't that tough with this one. It's mostly loose inferred detail, so It wasn't too tough.
